The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly

The Good
Starting with the good news first, its usually less interesting. I took a jump out of my comfort zone that was probably the equivalent to base jumping off a tall cliff for most people. I sang in sacrament meeting today. Not so bad you say, well there were 4 of us so that made it a bit better, but I had a solo part a whole whopping 4 words that I sang by myself and a couple of duet parts as well. Although this could be the good, the bad, or the ugly I am putting it down as the good. I am glad I did it. I am definitely not a great vocalist but I enjoyed the experience.

Side note: how did that guy get up there in the first place?

The Bad
Ok lets do the bad. James has an ear infection. It's the first since his tubes were inserted almost 8 weeks ago. I could see it coming but I have been waiting a few days for the "drainage" the doctor told me I would see. Well the drainage finally came today. It is kind of a bloody discharge though. Maybe all of you more experienced tympanostomy mothers know what normal ear infection drainage looks like. At any rate we are calling the doctor first thing in the morning to get stuff to hopefully clear it up quickly.

The Ugly

The ugly is more like ridiculous. James did a
little base jumping of his own this evening... out of his crib! The mattress is down as far as it can get and the little monkey still got out. He landed on his back and bit his tongue, but other than that he is fine. The ugliest part of the whole deal is that there is no way I am putting him in a bed yet, which means instead I may end up forking out the money for a crib tent.

Our crib tent has saved my sanity. As soon as Van started climbing out of his crib there was no way to keep him in there. But now he is at the point where we only threaten to zip it up if he tries to climb out and we haven't had to zip it! The money spent was WELL worth it.

I didn't take the chance to tell you that you did a great job yesterday Anette.

sadly, I have heard a FEW stories of children getting very hurt and one little kid hanging him self to death from a crib tent cause he found where the zipper was and unziped it and tried to climb out, and ended up getting caught somehow. It was a horrible. But the same thing goes with any product, just have to be careful I guess. I'm sure you can find many reviews on it on the internet like I did. Hearing that just sort of scared me enough to not get one and let nixon start sleeping on the floor when it starts happening.

Net, Sabeys used a piece heavy plywood and an iron anvil from the barn...I bet Omi and Opa probably have one!

First of all-thank you for letting me come hear you sing yesterday. You did an AWESOME job. Truth be told, I didn't even know you sang-and apparently you do. Well.

Second-poor James! I didn't think you were supposed to get ear infections with the tubes. The poor kid-does it ever end?

Third-WHAT! I knew from your stories it was bound to happen sooner or later. I really can't believe he can climb out and was daring enough to jump. I hope it doesn't run in the family. I am so glad that he is okay.

You did awsome at church, which I did tell you already, but I don't like singing in front of people either. I am just glad that Carter is still a little shorter than James. I guess I should be prepared for future climbing!

You DID sound beautiful! You all did a great job!

Maybe that guy had a helicopter drop him off. But then, why not just jump from the helicopter in the first place?

Allie Started climping out of her crib a long time ago. we tried the pack and play, and seriously considered buying a crib tent. finally we just put her on a mattress on the floor. She was only like 10 months, but we were too lazy to guy buy a crib tent. you will have to let me know how it works. it looks cool.
