Lip Stick

James got into Kaylie's "Snow White" lipstick and went quietly into his room and this is what we found... too cute.

Isn't that the sweetest face?

Fort Douglas 100 Years

Last week Fort Douglas Army Reserve Base Celebrated 100 years. We live on the same hill as the base and the kids are always excited to see the soldiers, so it was a great excuse to head down and see the festivities. I think they had a great turn out but with free food, cotton candy, snow cones, games (with prizes) and bounce house toys (I think I got it all) who wouldn't go! Several of the families from the neighborhood went and we had a great time. I snapped a couple of pictures.

Free Cotton Candy Yummy!

These two girlfriends are always scheming up some fun or a matching outfit!

Days of '47

Our holiday started on the 23rd by dropping Ryan off at 9:30 p.m. at 350 South & 200 East. We were late in getting down there so the spots that would have shade in the morning where already slim pickins. We got one though and Ryan was left to himself and the rest of the crazies who slept downtown.

In the morning Melanie, the kids and I headed down to join Ryan at about 7:30 a.m. We are lucky to have our Uncle Jordan and parked in the garage of the hotel he works for. He was able to get off work just in time for the parade to start! Our friends the Holemans were the other crazies who joined us with their 2 week old baby... yeah our bunch was a few screws loose but we had a blast.

Little Boy Heaven: Motorcycles, Horses, Fast Cars, Loud Bands, & Pretty Girls

Our crazy friends the Holmans

Did I mention Little boy Heaven.... well maybe big boy's too.

Later the Brown kids (minus our Greek missionary) joined up at our place for a BBQ. Everyone's food turned out delicious and we had plenty of leftovers.

Then when the sun went down we headed over to East High and watched the fireworks down the hill. FYI great spot you have a great view of the fireworks in Liberty Park minus the massive crowds and traffic jams. Plus you get a second round of fireworks when The Salt Lake Bee's start theirs.

Can I just say that I love this picture. I laugh every time I look at it.

P.S. Sorry to any followers of multiple Brown family blogs
because 50% of these pics are ripped from the sister's blogs.

Rock Climbing in Colorado

On our trip to Colorado we had several adventures that haven't been blogged yet. Our family all knows that before Ryan and I were married and for a time afterward we climbed almost 6 days a week.... and then life happened. I finally am not pregnant or just had a baby, and it was nice outside. Get ready for a "few" pictures there were really too many to choose from.

The boy climbed around and in and through everything

Kaylie stayed a little more grounded although
daddy did try to get her to climb... maybe next time.

Even I got into it again and remembered how much I love to climb

Daddy will always be a climber.

One more of the silly kid

As you are climbing on the rock this is what is behind you. We are actually a couple hundred feet above the water. How beautiful is that?

Another Hair Cut

Most of my friends know about my fretting with James hair. I loved his long hair and running my fingers through it when I would hold him. I finally decided enough was enough. His hair was just to long and especially for the summer. He would get so sweaty. I went out and bought a pair of clippers because I have over the past months committed to cut the boys hair and decided I was done borrowing clippers.

So my sweet baby boy went from his long hair &

feathery tails

to this sweet little thing!

What do you think mom is it a little Logan?

Super Glue fun!

The other day I was super gluing a couple of Kaylie's toys. I learned that you don't by the cheap brand of super glue. The container couldn't hold up to be being opened and just crumpled leaving this....
Yes it burned and was quite thick in places. Some of the most thick areas pealed off rather easy. The Best news is hand lotion! My sister and I jumped on the internet and found lotion as a remedy. I a couple pea size applications and rubbed it in well and then washed my hands. They were perfectly clean with no horrible post super glue feeling.

BrAiN DaMAge!!!

Ok maybe it's just hearing loss. My little sis, Hillary, and I went to the American Idol Tour 2008 last night and we had a ton of fun. We ate dinner at the Red Iguana (a.k.a. mexican food heaven) then it was off to The "E" Center. Each member of the tour had a mini concert with 3 songs each. David and David each did 4. Obviously Salt Lake loves their little "Archie" but seriously people it was like a Michael JAckson pre-scandal days concert. Ridiculous! I tried to catch a bit of it on video keep in mind I missed the first minute or so (I had to scream a little too)!

One more video of Archuleta. This one of Kaylie's favorite songs I was sad she missed it.

At the end they did a song all together

Oh yeah and I caught a second of video that is dedicated to Ryan and Tammie
they did a little blurb right before intermission about Idol Gives Back
I thought of you guys!

Favorite performances: David A. Brooke White, Carly Smithson, David C.

4th of July

NOTE: For all of you faithful blog followers, we are not dead. We have been quite the opposite of dead. My mom came into town while Ryan was gone and then we all went out to Colorado for a week. Finally my sister came back out to UT with us. Soo... Be patient I plan to get it all blogged, it may not all be in chronological order. Enjoy!

We had a laid back really fun 4th of July. The night before we did some small fireworks in the back yard. The men then built a make shift fire pit that my dad says he plans to make more permanent. We made smores and roasted marshmallows. Kaylie then slept in the tent with Hillary, Shelby (cousin), and Logan. Kaylie had tons of fun with that, and actually made it all night in the tent!

The night of the actual fourth we had a yummy BBQ and went to the church building that is near the lake where the fireworks are shot off. This has been a tradition in our family since I can remember. When the Loveland building was the only building in the city or even encompassing a few cities for that matter, it was a fun gathering for the scattered saints to get together. Now 2o some years later Loveland has 2 buildings and there are many others in the surrounding towns and cities. It still is a time where "the old timers" can find one another and catch up. Sadly, as I am going through my quarter life crisis, I recognize fewer and fewer people as new families largely outnumber familiar faces. The evening was still great with my family together and the Loveland Fire Dept. did one heck of an amazing show.
