Bity Bird Flies the Coop!

Lydia took another step towards being a big girl this week. She finally got to go to nursery. She has been waiting quite sometime. She has been pounding on the door for them to let her in. She knew quite well that that's where the kids go to play, and she wanted in on the action. Although I was ready for her to go to nursery, because she was so insistent on being there, I really am sad that she is old enough to be in nursery. There are no more babies to hold during church meetings! I do look forward to getting to listen to the entire lesson, but my heart still aches as that phase of life is now in the past.

When we dropped her off she couldn't hardly believe she was being aloud in! She was a little overwhelmed for a minute, like she didn't know what to play with first. I didn't want to stay long so I left before I was ready but said goodbye and left to peek in the one way glass. She continued to play so I sulked off to sunday school. We peeked at her a couple of times the remainder of the meeting block to find her playing and enjoying the company of the other little kids. When church was over I quickly went to pick her up. They were doing bubbles, which I rarely get out so she was super excited! When I came in ran to show me all that she had been up to and the toys that she had loved playing with the most. As we left she strutted out the door and down the hall to pick up Kaylie and James, as if she was coolest thing ever! You had to be there to truly appreciate the full humor of her attitude.

It will be preschool before I know it...

Idaho Friends

Our friends from Idaho surprised us this morning by making a weekend trip down to Salt Lake! We were all so excited to see them. Lunns lived next door to us our first three years of medical school. They graduated a year ahead of us and headed back to their home in Idaho. We loved our afternoon play date with them so much, but it definitely makes the heart hurt to say goodbye again.

I don't think I have had the jitters as bad as I did today since state cheer competitions in high school! The best part was I was shaking worse after we opened the envelope. There is definitely nothing like match day. The anticipation of that many people, all wanting the same thing to happen with each student having a particular outcome in mind. When the envelopes were passed out all the anticipation exploded. I however was not a part of that because the dang webcam was not working. Ryan insisted we wait and try one more time. We finally got Ron JoAnn on the web cam.... (in their Gator gear) and some of my family on the speakerphone, and then was finally given the go ahead to open the envelope! There isn't much on the paper that you get, it's pretty much: Congratulations you matched and then the program information. It took way longer than necessary for it to process that the paper said U Florida on it. I honestly couldn't believe it had really happened.

It has been one long ride to this point with lots of ups and downs, but such is life. The next chapter will definitely be an adventure!

Spring Snow

We got a ton of snow up here on the east bench of the valley. It was almost up to my knees! They don't believe in snow days here in Salt Lake City... bummer! I know it is usually much better down the hill, but just one day a year to play in the snow lifts everyone's spirits!

Luckily Auntie Hilla and her friend Joe came and took the kids out to play! Three of our top five residency programs all have very warm climates, which means we may have very few snow days left in our near future. A little sad, a little scary, but really exciting!

Making a snowman with Joe!

The finished product with Auntie Hilla!
Sad we couldn't use our cute snowman kits,
but the students up here at the university steal the pieces.

The snow babies then came in and cozied up with some hot chocolate!

I hate February!

I hate february. No really I loathe February! I have a hard time staying mentally stable. I am totally over the snow. The grey sky makes feel like I live in the snow globe from hell. All of us... meaning moms with children somehow get holed up in our little apartments and turn into pasty hermits. Seriously we need to just skip to March!

This february was kicked off by weening Lydia. I hate weening my babies. Breaking that emotional tie with my babies just rips my heart out. Knowing that Lyida is the baby of the family and that I will never nurse a baby again was so so hard. Then my hormones have to readjust... as if I need help being crazy in February!

The whole reason for weening Lydia when we did was so that I could get my tonsils out. I was going to have to be on narcotics and I didn't want to stress about nursing or not nursing. Ryan took her up to the house in Farmington and spent the weekend with her. They had some real father daughter bonding time.

There isn't any pictures to document it, but my tonsils finally came out too. James did it two months prior and was a vision of a trooper.... me not so much.

Let's just say that was worst thing ever! There isn't even words to describe it! The pain, the drugs (narcotics just make me sick), and no food for like 10 days... at least not life sustaining food.

I had great help from both of my sisters, and the ladies in the ward... and my husband didn't do half bad either =)

Good Bye February.... Hello March!
