Crazy? I'm Not Crazy!

Ok, so maybe I am. In my defense it was fun and spontaneous. Tuesday after I dropped Kaylie off at preschool I decided I would drive 5.5 hours to Glenwood Springs, Colorado. The reason, My brother's basketball team made the state basketball tournament and it was two hours shorter than the drive all the way to my parents.

I quickly packed up and picked a few things up from the grocery store and picked Kaylie up from preschool. Time for another side-note. Kaylie wakes up every morning and asks if we can go to Colorado or if we can go pick up Maja, Faja, or one of my siblings up from the airport. I am not exaggerating on this in the slightest. Back to the story. I informed Kaylie that after a quick lunch we are going to go to Colorado for the night. She could hardly contain her excitement. I kid you not she asked me every 10 minutes or less if we were in Colorado yet starting before we hit the point of the mountain. After a quick lunch and saying good bye to Dad, we headed out.

The trip was fairly uneventful with a few movies being watched. James did puke a bit once near the end of the trip but it wasn't much and compared to what Kaylie does without dramamine it was nothing. We made it to the game just before it started. My siblings were way excited because my mom had decided to surprise them by not telling them that we were coming (which was really fun). Our team lost the game but I was proud of how my brother played. It has been hard to watch him over this past year grow up to be a little man.

We headed to the hotel for the night which was clean comfy and roomy. The family (minus Ryan) visited for a bit and everyone turned in for the night. All went well, James slept through the night perfectly (weird) and oh wait I lied all didn't go well Kaylie threw up everything she had eaten that day in her sleep and then proceeded to sleep in it! I had gotten up at 4 am to check on the kids and found that! I got it cleaned up the best I could and we went back to sleep. In the morning you would have never known anything had happened. Kaylie was completely fine. To those of you who aren't familiar with my children's travel habits this really was a pretty good trip and isn't out the ordinary.

After some yummy breakfast we packed up and headed for home. The trek back to Salt Lake was mostly uneventful, with losing one of our awesome fake chrome hubcaps, being the highlight.  The whole trip was 26 hours and really pretty fun to get out and see some beautiful country, sunshine, basketball and my family.

Thanks for your last comments. You were right things work out. We just have a couple more hurdles and I think we will be able to move on with life. Thanks Annette.

Wow! I don't think you're crazy, just brave! I've been trying to gear up for taking the kids to MT by myself...this gives me some hope! I think being spontaneous like that is great, good for you.
